Alannah & Madeline Foundation

The Alannah & Madeline Foundation’s Christmas Appeal seeks donations for ‘Buddy Bags’; backpacks of useful items like a toothbrush, pillow slip, pyjamas of their own, a face washer, and a teddy. They’re for children who arrive at emergency accommodation with little more than the clothes on their backs.

Donors were given the opportunity – with or without donating – to send back one of these ‘You’re awesome’ notes with a handwritten note of encouragement on the back. The notes were placed in the Buddy Bags so that each child would know someone they didn’t know cared about them. The appeal exceeded expectations. Sometimes it’s just the little personal touches that make something good perform really well.
